Remembrance Wreaths

Year 5 and 6 have been learning about Remembrance. They visited the Roll of Honor for those men and women, from Swanage, who were killed in WW1 and WW2.  In preparation for their visit to the War Memorial last Friday they made their own poppy wreaths.  Each wreath is made from ‘poppy hands’; on each hand is the name and personal details of one of the people recorded on the Swanage war memorial.

When year 6 arrived at the service on Friday they recognised many of the names carved into the stone; it made it a much more personal experience for them. Their wreaths were displayed at St Mary’s Parish Church as part of the Town Remembrance Service on Sunday afternoon.
