Congratulations to all our wonderful children for three super celebrations of Christmas: starting off with Reception and Year 1’s ‘Shine, Star, Shine!’, followed by Year 2, 3 and 4’s ‘The Magical Christmas Jigsaw’, and, finally, the Year 5 & 6 Carol Concert at St Edward’s.
Shine, Star, Shine!
The Magical Christmas Jigsaw
Many thanks to everyone who has donated towards the Christmas appeal by the Swanage Food Bank; as you can see we have a super box of treats to send.
Well done to our indoor athletics competitors on their recent win; and to the football team who made it all the way to the county finals.
Don’t forget the Christmas tree festival at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Thursday 10th – Saturday 12th December. It is worth a visit just to see all the twinkly lights and smell all the trees, but there is also a life-size nativity scene with dressing up! See if you can find our beautiful tree, with decorations made by Reception and Year 6.
Recently 12 St Mary’s children performed at the award celebration where Rollo received the gold medal of the English Folk Dance & Song Society. This week Rollo came into school to show the dancers his gold medal. He also brought them some of the celebration cake to say thank you!
Mrs Buckle put the orchestra through their paces yesterday in preparation for the School Carol Service on Monday 14th December. You would be most welcome to come and join us – 6pm at St Edward’s Church.
Congratulations to all Friends of St Mary’s organisers and helpers on such a successful Christmas Fair. There was a super atmosphere in school, with excellent and enthusiastic help from children in year 4, 5 & 6. There were many generous donations of items for sale, prizes and people’s time for which we are extremely grateful.
Well done to Sid, Olivier and Tom H, the winners of the poster competition organized by the green team and held as part of Switch-Off Fortnight.
At a recent meeting the school council were very keen to follow up their harvest appeal for items for the Swanage foodbank. Children, parents, staff and friends had been so generous in their donations at harvest that the school council decided to do something for Christmas.
In a special assembly they asked for our help to provide special Christmas treats for the foodbank to deliver at Christmas time. Items for donation can be dropped off in school as normal.
In front of a large audience, in an unfamiliar venue, twelve St Mary’s children once again proved their mettle on Saturday 28 November at The Swanage School. They danced tremendously as a thank you to accordion player Rollo who has helped us so much with country dancing.
