Bea from CAFOD visited St Mary’s on Friday 26 February. She presented a whole school assembly followed by a workshop session with Year 3. Bea talked to us about the importance of clean water and the work CAFOD does with communities improving their access to clean water.
On Friday 18th March we have decided to support Sport Relief by organising a Fun Run at St Mary’s School. All money raised will go directly to our partner school in Uganda to pay towards a much-needed security fence around their school grounds. Our fun run follows a course around our own school grounds and each lap will be around half a mile. Children will be encouraged to run at their own pace for as long as they want.
Members of the school council, who are helping to organise this event, gave an assembly to the whole school, explaining how the Fun Run will work.
This term’s PILS concert is at 6pm on Tuesday March 15th at St Mary’s Catholic Primary School, Northbrook Road, Swanage. Friends and family are very welcome, the concert is free of charge.
(Performers – no need to wear school uniform – the concert is very informal. If your piece has piano accompaniment, please bring it.)
Please ask your parents or teacher to email Jay Buckle if you would like to play – her contact details are in the school office.
Well done to all St Mary’s musicians and singers who took part in the competition on 6 February, and especially to our prize winners.
The final total for year 5’s fundraising for St Mungo’s Broadway was a whacking £280 – well done Year 5 and thank you to everyone who wore a hat and came to the sale after school.
Keep your eyes peeled on the website for their newspaper articles.
