Pupils from Years 3 & 4 took part in our first hockey tournament which took place here at St Mary’s School on our astro pitch.
Congratulations to our Year 4 team who came first and our Year 3 team came who third. A special mention goes to our Year 3 team as this was the first time many of them had played hockey in tournament before, and they showed some great team work and excellent hockey skills.
Thank you to Crab Apple Catering for supplying all children with a delicious cake, after the event.
The following week our Year 5 & 6 hockey team went to the Purbeck School to take part in St Mary’s Hockey tournament on the larger astro pitch. This pitch is also home to Swanage and Wareham Hockey Club, and we wanted to give the children the opportunity to play hockey on a full-size pitch.
The final match came down to Year 5 versus Year 6 with the winner becoming the overall tournament winners. It was a fantastic final – full of effort, determination and great team work from both teams – with Year 6 winning 3-0.
A big thank you to Swanage and Wareham Hockey club for sponsoring this event with medals, trophies, and umpires.
The event is in its fourth year now and was another great success giving over 60 local primary school children the opportunity to take part in some competitive hockey.
