Monday Liturgy – 10 February

We are like lights for the world
“You are like light for the whole world.
A city built on a hill cannot be hidden.
No one lights a lamp and puts it under a bowl; instead he puts it on the lamp stand, where it gives light for everyone in the house.
In the same way your light must shine before people, so that they will see the good things you do and praise your Father in heaven.”
Matthew 5

Year 6 led liturgy today linked to yesterday’s Gospel. They talked about how can we shine in the world?  We could live out the Gospel values in our lives by:

Showing kindness and compassion for others;
Having courage to stand up for justice and try to make the world a fairer place;
Being peace makers and forgiving our friends when they hurt us;
Showing humility and thinking of others rather than only about what we want;
Being truthful and honest so others will trust what we say and do.

They reminded us that God loves everybody in the world and God asks us to do the same because we are all members of the same global family. What do you think we can do to show other people that we care about them?

If we love other people and do what we can to help them and look after the wonderful world which God has given us, then other people will see how great God’s love is.

We will be like the light that shines and is not covered up, so that everyone can see.   How will you be like a shining light this week?
