Y6 Rivers trip

Year 6 spent a very enjoyable and informative morning at West Mills in Wareham today.  We carried out some geography fieldwork linked to our learning, last term, about rivers.  We were able to measure the width, depth and flow rate; compare the size of the sediment found on the riverbed; complete a labelled field sketch of the river and explore what freshwater invertebrates are living in the river and then assess the water quality – what a busy morning – we even managed to get a bit wet! Many thanks to the Leeson House staff for their support.
