Holy Week and Easter Mass Times at St Edward’s

Palm Sunday – 10th April – processions before Mass starting from outside the church.  Mass at 9am.

Holy Thursday – 14th April – 7pm 

Good Friday – 15th April – 1pm 

Holy Saturday – 16th April – 11.00 am Swieconka (Polish food Blessing – see below for more details) 

Easter Vigil – Wool – 8.30pm 

Easter Sunday – 17th April – 11am 

Food Blessing Święconka 

Holy Saturday, 16th April @ 11am 

Please bring baskets filled with Easter food and chocolates. 

We bring eggs (hardboiled and decorated) as a symbol of new life; bread as a symbol of the body of Christ; salt and pepper to add to our other Easter food and any other food you would like to be blessed.

We hope to see you there!

CAFOD Family Fast Day 2022

Family Fast Day is on Friday 11 March. The whole school will be walking for 20 minutes to contribute to CAFOD’s aim of walking the circumference of the earth, 40000km! Please bring in a contribution to CAFOD or something for the Swanage foodbank.

Fairtrade Fortnight 2022

As usual we will be supporting Fairtrade Fortnight and after the success of the breakfasts in previous years we have decided to offer them again this year.

Fairtrade Breakfast

Pupils will be able to come into school and enjoy a breakfast before school – please book a breakfast by signing up on School’s Buddy or put you name down at the office – it is helpful for us to have a rough idea of numbers!

Reception and Key Stage 1 – Thursday 3rd March

Key Stage 2 – Friday 4th March

Arrive between 8 – 8.15am. (Minibus children come in when you arrive)

Cost £2.00 to include: FT Hot drink, FT juice, toast, FT jam/marmalade, FT banana – homemade FT breakfast bar.

PLEASE PAY ON THE DAY

NB: if you have children in both groups then they can come together on one of the days.

Parent Information Meetings

We will be holding parent information meetings for all classes in the school hall. These will give you an opportunity to hear from your child’s teacher about the curriculum expectations for the year from you child’s teacher. The talks will be held on the following dates:

Monday 13 September – Year 2 at 2.50pm

Tuesday 14 September – Year 1 at 2.50pm

Thursday 16 September – Years 5 & 6 at 3pm

Monday 20 September – Years 3 & 4 at 3pm

Wednesday 22 September – Reception at 2.15pm

St Mary’s supports Mosaic charity

On Friday 24th May, St Mary’s will be supporting ‘Bring £1.00 to Work / School day. Organised by Wessex FM, who have selected Mosaic this year as their chosen charity. (Please note this is not a dress down day)

Mosaic was created to fill the gap in the provision of bereavement services for children and young people across the county. They provide counselling for children and young people who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling or loved one through any cause of death. They also offer support to families facing the death of a loved one.

As a school we been fortunate to have accessed help from Mosaic for our own children and families within the school. We also received staff training from Mosaic for our ELSA staff to enable them to support children appropriately.
